Lincy Institute Fellowship Awards

Application Guidelines for Fall 2010
The application process for a Lincy Institute Fellowship is a two-part procedure. The project summary must be approved by the applicant’s department chair and dean.

Part I. Project summary (not to exceed one page). The project summary should include a statement of objectives, research methods to be employed, the name of community partner(s), and the relationship to the mission of The Lincy Institute. The summary must be submitted online by 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15, 2010 to TheLincyInstitute@unlv.edu. Summaries will not be accepted after this date.

Successful applicants will be notified by Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 and invited to complete Part II of the application process.

Part II of the application must be submitted online by 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010. Successful applicants will be notified by Monday, Dec. 13, 2010.

Part II. Application packet will include:

    * Cover Page. The cover page must include the title of the project, an abstract not to exceed 100 words, the name and complete address of applicant, including phone number and email address.
    * Project’s relationship to the mission of The Lincy Institute (not to exceed one page). A one-page explanation of the relationship of the project to the improvement of Southern Nevada’s education, health, and/or social service programs.
    * Project description (not to exceed ten pages). Define the primary objective of the research, proposed methods and data to be used, the primary audience, and the mechanism or means of disseminating the research findings. The description should include:
          o Impacts and outcomes. Indicate any immediate and longer-term impacts the research and/or project may have, including the community partner(s), professional or scholarly fields that may be affected directly by the project. Describe outcomes such as publications (e.g., books, journal articles, press reports), presentations, workshops, grant activity, and/or use as course materials.
          o Budget. Provide a narrative of proposed expenditures such as survey costs, workshop support, hosting, equipment, travel, personnel costs, and the like. NOTE: The Lincy Institute will deposit Fellowship funding directly into an approved college or departmental soft-money account.
    * Current curriculum vitae (not to exceed five pages).

Selection Committee
The Selection Committee consists of UNLV Lincy Institute’s Faculty Advisory Board. Other members may be invited to participate by the Director of The Lincy Institute.

*Important Dates:

Oct. 15, 2010: Part I of The Lincy Institute application must be submitted online by 5 p.m.

Nov. 1, 2010: Successful applicants will be notified and invited to complete Part II of the application process.

Nov. 22, 2010: Part II of The Lincy Institute application must be submitted online by 5 p.m.

Dec. 13, 2010: Successful applicants will be notified as recipients of a Lincy Institute Fellowship.
