Japan Fellowship Program For Intelectual Exchange 2011 - 2012

The Fellowship Program for Intellectual Exchange 2011-2012 is designed to provide selected intellectuals in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa with an opportunity to visit Japan and conduct their own individual research on a chosen topic as well as networking/exchange activities

Scholarship Description:

[Japan] - The program thus seeks to assist in the development of a new generation of Eastern European, Middle Eastern and African intellectual leaders who are familiar with Japan through established individual and institutional networks and are able to incorporate topics/elements related to Japan to their own field of research in future.

Eligibility:
1. Scholars, researchers (except undergraduate and graduate students), journalists and professionals who are engaged in research activities in the fields of the humanities or the social sciences, or who have practical experience in research, media, or non-profit organizations. In this fellowship, the applicant’s specialization should not be Japanese
studies, but he/she should aim to conduct research that is related to Japan.

2. Individuals with adequate English-language proficiency to take part in collaborative interaction and to conduct research in Japan (Japanese-language ability is not assessed. Please attach a certificate showing the applicant’s English-language ability, if you have one.)

Applicants who are under 45 years old at the point of April 1, 2011 (as a general rule), and who are nationals or permanent residents with an active academic/professional affiliation in any of the following countries:

Fellowship Post-Graduate Africa

ANSTI/DAAD Post-Graduate Fellowships, Africa

[Africa] Fellowship Description:The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) a publicly funded, self-governing oragnisation of the institutions of higher learning in Germany, promotes international academic exchange as well as educational co-operation with developing countries through a variety of funding and scholarship programmes. DAAD cooperates with ANSTI by offering a number of in-region scholarships for Masters and Ph.D degrees.

Participants in the programme must be from ANSTI member institutions and may not exceed the age limit of 36 years by date of nomination. Applicants may not apply for studies in their home countries.
Fellowships, which cover fees, subsistence and international travel, are awarded to staff of ANSTI member institutions ( View ANSTI Members ) for postgraduate studies (M.Sc. or Ph.D) at African universities for staff development.
Fellowships are awarded to sub-Saharan African nationals for studies outside the applicants’ home countries.

The initial award of the fellowships covers one year. Extension is possible up to two years for Masters courses or more for Ph.D studies upon successful completion of previous year.
* Applicants must also meet the following criteria: Applicants must hold a good bachelors degree (at least 2nd class upper division).
* Applicants must obtain official admission to the host university prior to his/her application for the fellowship.

Unesco - Program Fellowships for Women

L’Oréal-UNESCO Regional Fellowships for Women in Science in Sub-saharan Africa

[Beasiswa] Description:For the first time in 2009 the For Women in Science Programme is launching of the L’Oréal-UNESCO Regional fellowships “For Women in Science” in Sub-Sahara Africa to assist women scientists in Sub-Saharan to realize important scientific research in all fields of science, engineering and technology. This fellowship is open to all women citizens and permanent residents from Sub-Saharan African countries.Fellowships will be awarded to women scientists in Sub-Saharan African to realize important scientific research in all fields of science, engineering and technology.

Desription 2 :
* Fellowships will be awarded for PhD research projects that will result in a Doctorate degree
* The research is to be conducted in any country in Sub-Saharan Africa.
* Fellowships up to the maximum value of US$20,000 will be awarded.
* The age limits for the candidate is 40 years
* The selected beneficiaries will be awarded their fellowships at a public ceremony.
