Scholarship Description:The MUNDUS ACP project is a partnership of European and ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) Higher Education Institutions. This project is financed by the European Commission through the “Erasmus Mundus Programme Action 2”, one of the EU’s cooperation programmes with third countries.

The main objectives of this initiative are:
• To promote the mobility of students, researchers, academic and administrative staff from the ACP Countries to
Europe enabling valuable linguistic, cultural and educational experiences;
• To enhance the international cooperation capacity between Higher Education Institutions in Europe and in
the ACP Countries, helping to foster the socio-economical development of the region;
• To promote transparency and recognition of studies and grades at international level.

The MUNDUS ACP project is aimed at those nationals of the ACP Countries who are eligible to undertake a Masters degree at the partner European institutions or a mobility period as a PhD student or academic/administrative staff.
Possible study/exchange options are outlined below. To be considered eligible candidates must:
• Be nationals of one of the ACP Countries;
• Have not resided or carried out their main activity (work, study, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one of the European countries.

Scholarship for pursuing M.Tech. at IIT( Delhi and Madras)

[India] - Scholarship Description: ECC – the Construction Division of engineering and technology major Larsen & Toubro Limited – will sponsor deserving fresh engineering graduates interested in pursuing an M.Tech. in Construction Technology & Management in IIT (Delhi and Madras). The Scholarships signify ECC’s keenness to enhance the interface between educational institutions and industry.
Qualifications : First-class graduates with minimum aggregate average of 65% marks in Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering who will pass out in 2005 from a recognized Indian University / Institute.

Age : Not over 23 years as on 1.7.2011
Minimum Height : 160 cm. Minimum Weight : 50 kg.

The Selection Process involves written tests / interview conducted by IIT ( Delhi / Madras) in co-ordination with ECC. Final selection will be subject to medical fitness.

Scholarship : For the 24-months duration of the course, ECC will provide selected candidates a stipend of Rs.9,000/- pm and pay sponsorship and tution fees to IITs.

Absorption : Candidates who successfully complete the course will be considered for absorption in regular employment in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Company. Total emoluments on absorption, at current rates, exceeds Rs.4,00,000- per annum on cost-to-company basis. The Company offers excellent career growth prospects.

Undertaking : Before joining, candidates selected will be required to execute an undertaking for a value of Rs.3,00,000/- to complete the course, and subsequently, if selected for employment, to serve the Company for a minimum period of 5 years.

The Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme in the Sciences is one of the principal programmes of the Claude Leon Foundation. The Trustees of the Foundation seek to upgrade research at South African universities in the faculties of Science, Engineering and Medical Sciences by making awards to both South African and foreign postdoctoral scientists, who should increase the volume and quality of research output, transfer technical skills, and generally enhance the research culture.

Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis, taking the applicants’ academic achievements and potential as researchers into account.

The Claude Leon Foundation is offering Postdoctoral Fellowships commencing in 2011 for research in the faculties of Science, Engineering and Medical Sciences to be conducted at universities in South Africa. The Fellowship will be awarded for two years and will be worth R175,000 per annum.
The Fellowships are open to South African and foreign nationals.One economy class return flight may be awarded to those coming from outside South Africa. The Foundation must be informed immediately of any supplementary travel grants and the conditions pertaining thereto which the Fellows may receive. The Foundation reserves the right to adjust or cancel its translocation allowance.Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis, taking the applicants’ academic achievements and potential as researchers into account.Preference will be given to candidates who:

1. have received their doctoral degrees in the last five years; there may be exceptions for older candidates who bring special skills or experience.
2. are currently under-represented in South African science, engineering and medical sciences.

If you are currently registered or intend to register for Master’s degree in the faculties of Science, ICT and Engineering and the Built Environment , you are hereby invited to apply for the 2011 TUT -CSIR joint Master’s Scholarship programme valued at R60 000per annum.

ONLY South African Citizens should apply.
The applicants must have obtained an aggregate of at least65 (at least 60% from designated groups(i.e.Africans,Indians,Coloureds) for their B-Tech degrees.

The applicants must have obtained their previous qualification in the minimum prescribed period.Applicants for this scholarship should bewilling to register for Doctoral degree upon completion of their M-Tech studies.

Applicants who already hold a qualification at the same level as the application are not eligible to apply

Scholarship holders will be expected to register for their Master’s degrees at TUT
Applicants must ensure that their research falls within one of the TUT-CSIR joint research areas.

The Max Planck Research Award 2011 will be awarded in the area of engineering sciences in the field of Intelligent Systems.

[GERMANY] Max Planck Research Award for International Researchers and Scholars

[Job Description] : Excellent scientists and scholars of all nationalities who are expected to continue producing outstanding academic achievements in international collaboration – not least with the assistance of this award – are eligible to be nominated for the Max Planck Research Award.

Jobs |On an annually-alternating basis, the call for nominations addresses areas within the natural and engineering sciences, the life sciences, and the humanities.

Intelligent systems integrate information acquisition and processing, as well as target-oriented action, also under diffuse boundary conditions. Research in engineering science that deals with intelligent systems focuses on, among other things, making rational and human cognitive performance and procedures available for artificial inanimate and bio-hybrid systems by machines.

Every year, the Humboldt Foundation and the Max Planck Society grant two research awards to one researcher working in Germany and one researcher working abroad.The Presidents/Vice Chancellors of universities and the heads of research institutions in Germany are eligible to make nominations (c.f. list of eligible nominators). Direct applications are not accepted. As a rule, each award is endowed with 750,000 EUR and may be used over a period of three to a maximum of five years to fund research chosen by the award winner.

Requirements
1. The nominee must be recognised internationally as an outstandingly qualified academic (e.g. awards, positive responses to publications, etc.).
2. Expectation of continued outstanding academic achievements in international collaboration ? not least with the assistance of the award.
3. Nomination by a person entitled to make the nomination (c.f. list of eligible nominators).
4. Expert reviews by important international and German collaborative partners and/or academics.
5. The Humboldt Foundation assumes that candidates will abide by the Rules of Good Scientific Practice during the application and sponsorship periods.

The deadline for nominations is 20 October 2010.

Unesco - Program Fellowships for Women

L’Oréal-UNESCO Regional Fellowships for Women in Science in Sub-saharan Africa

[Beasiswa] Description:For the first time in 2009 the For Women in Science Programme is launching of the L’Oréal-UNESCO Regional fellowships “For Women in Science” in Sub-Sahara Africa to assist women scientists in Sub-Saharan to realize important scientific research in all fields of science, engineering and technology. This fellowship is open to all women citizens and permanent residents from Sub-Saharan African countries.Fellowships will be awarded to women scientists in Sub-Saharan African to realize important scientific research in all fields of science, engineering and technology.

Desription 2 :
* Fellowships will be awarded for PhD research projects that will result in a Doctorate degree
* The research is to be conducted in any country in Sub-Saharan Africa.
* Fellowships up to the maximum value of US$20,000 will be awarded.
* The age limits for the candidate is 40 years
* The selected beneficiaries will be awarded their fellowships at a public ceremony.
