Scholarship Description:The Paul Celan Fellowship Program of IWM and ERSTE Foundation aims to help overcome deficits and asymmetries in the exchange of ideas and reception of scholarly literature which result from the division of Europe in the 20th century.

Therefore, the Paul Celan Fellowships support East-West, West-East and East-East translations of canonical texts as well as contemporary key works in the Humanities, Social Sciences and in the field of Cultural Studies. Special emphasis is put on translations of relevant works written by East European authors and/or by female scholars. A thematic relation to one of the IWM ’s research fields is likewise welcomed.

The Erasmus Mundus Master Course in Coastal and Marine Engineering and Management, is a two-year English taught international Master’s programme, in which five high-rated European universities participate. During the course students familiarise themselves with key issues involved in providing sustainable, environmentally friendly, legally and economically acceptable solutions to various problems in the CoMEM field.

Program

During the program, students study at universities in three different countries. Students spend the first semester in Trondheim, Norway, the second semester in Delft, the Netherlands; during the third semester in the second year, students choose a specialization, either in Barcelona (Spain), London (UK) or Southampton (UK). Semester 4 is devoted to doing the MSc thesis at one of the three universities previously visited.

All participating universities have long-standing relations with the industry, public works administrations and research and education institutes. Studying in different European countries will enable students to meet and work with professionals from various backgrounds and to gather knowledge on a wide range of issues involved; they will also get a comprehensive EU perspective on CoMEM related issues. This will help students to develop a coherent and integrated approach that is applicable to a more global perspective as well.

Scholarship Description:The GLITEMA (German Literature in the European Middle Ages) EMMC is an integrated Master Course run by a consortium of three full partner universities (Porto, PT [co-ordinator], Bremen, Palermo), supported by a number of associated partner HEIs (Amsterdam, FU Berlin, Cairo, Greifswald, Olomouc, Ljubljana, Moscow [Lomonosov], North Carolina, Rio de Janeiro, Santiago de Compostela, Vienna, Zurich).

The basic premise for the GLITEMA EMMC is the understanding that Medieval culture, in order to be fully comprehended, must be analysed from within its wider European context: in particular, the traditional “national philological approach”, which has informed Medieval German Studies since their inception during the 19th century, does not allow students to understand the full extent to which today’s national cultures in Europe have their roots in a common – Medieval – past. Thus, this EMMC aims to emphasize the pre-national nature of German Medieval Studies and analyse them from within their European context; to this end, the potentialities of trans-national student and staff mobility within the EU will be used to underpin the European approach to the subject.

Since most of the course will be taught in German, a good working knowledge of the language (level C.1 in Bremen and B.2 in Palermo and Porto) is a pre-requirement; tuition in this language will be offered by Palermo and Porto, while students are also expected to gain linguistic skills in Italian and/or Portuguese through intensive language training programmes.

A maximum of thirty students will be selected for the programme; only those candidates who have obtained a good first cycle degree in a relevant area of studies will be eligible for selection.

*''The double degree master course MUNDUS URBANO contributes to capacity building in urban development planning especially in countries of the South and the East. It places a second focus on rules and practices of international cooperation projects, where the unsatisfied demand for qualified experts is evident and in which European culture, politics and professional knowledge remain a key element.

==Finally, the MUNDUS URBANO course chooses a highly interdisciplinary approach combining physical planning, economic and social development aspects, which all impact equally on the fate of cities. Especially professional staff in a leadership positions – like a director of a municipal planning office or a consultant working in a cooperation project (typical careers for graduates from this Master course) – need to develop the capacity to comprehensively understand urban development processes and to conceive possible strategies for intervention.

The main objective of this Master course is to prepare both, professionals and academics, for critically analyzing and assessing the growing problems in urban areas internationally and to increase their capacity to develop appropriate solutions in terms of architecturally, socially, economically and ecologically sustainable urban development.

Other elements of the program include joint research projects, an EU-supported scholarship program and PhD supervision.

Eligible Candidates
Applicants must provide proof of successful completion of a first university degree or the equivalent to a bachelor degree in the European Community. The marks obtained in previous university studies must be `good` or better.

Representing the level of an advanced `masters` study, MUNDUS URBANO specifically invites applications from applicants that have previously completed a full 5-year graduate university career.
Basic understanding of urban development and/or international cooperation issues are an essential asset to benefit most from the courses offered in the MUNDUS URBANO program. Such understanding is best witnessed through a minimum of one year previous work experience in a profession related to the subjects of study.

If the work experience is shorter or in a different field, the experience may be compensated by a relevant subject studied for a previous university degree (for example urban planning, architecture, urban sociology, geography, urban economics, politics etc.) or by relevant own publications

University degrees and positions held on their own do not always serve as reliable indicators for the suitability of an applicant for an interdisciplinary education course. Therefore a motivation letter (one to two pages) written in English by the applicant is requested in order to illustrate his or her good understanding of the course`s objectives and it`s usefulness for the applicant`s personal career.

In addition to the motivation letter a standard CV in table form is requested from all applicants to the MUNDUS URBANO course.

Beasiswa | European Master Scholarships in Nuclear Fusion Science and Engineering Physics, Erasmus Mundus

The aim of the European Master in Nuclear Fusion Science and Engineering Physics (FUSION-EP) programme is to provide a high-level, multinational, research-oriented education in fusion-related engineering physics, in close relation to the research activities of the partners, together with a well-integrated language and cultural experience. The combined and harmonized teaching & research of the 7 universities offers a broad range of competences in the field of fusion science and engineering physics. The Joint European Masters Programme offers a genuine European opportunity for Master level studies in a field which is of crucial importance to solving the urgent and vital problem of world energy supply.

In view of the expertise of the partners, the programme offers three programme tracks to the student: Plasma physics (fusion-oriented); Computational methods in physics; and Instrumentation and Radiation. The programme structure is combined with a mandatory stay for each student at two universities in two countries: semesters 1&2 at University A; and semesters 3 & 4 in B. Semesters 3 & 4 are in a particular track.
During semester 4 students will also attend a one month long winter school at the ITER site (attendance is compulsory). After semesters 2 & 4 a summer event is organized (attendance is compulsory) in which tracks and Master thesis topics are proposed for Master 1 students Master 2 students defend their thesis at this event. Student mobility is an inherent part of the programme structure and philosophy.

Bachelor degree in engineering physics, applied physics, physics or equivalent degree. No difference is made between third-country students, EU students, grantees and non-grantees. Applicants (students and scholars) from third countries (whether or not applying for a grant) will be subject to a well-defined selection procedure aimed at achieving high quality.

Per academic year Erasmus Mundus scholarships are available for FUSION-EP students from third countries are available. Master Color in Information and Media Technology

[Beasiswa] Erasmus Mundus European M.Sc in Color in Informatics & Media Technology Scholarships

Scholarship Description: The CIMET online application platform for academic programme 2011-13 is now open. M.Sc. CIMET is a first class and unique European Master’s programme providing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to the field of imaging science, photonics, computer vision, optics and multimedia technology. The study programme is geared towards both scientific research and applicative research for all major industries.

Offered by four top-level academic partners in France, Spain, Finland and Norway, it is accredited and partly funded by the European Commission. Major companies such as Technicolor, Nokia, HP, Tecnalia, Multiscan, Indra, Innovae vision, GLS, VGA, IVR, Infaimon or Unitronics Vision.

CIMET is one of the Master Courses selected by the prestigious Erasmus Mundus programme of the European Commission through which students from non-European Union countries and European Union countries are eligible for two-year grants of up to €24,000 per year.

The CIMET consortium is composed of University of Saint-Etienne (France), University of Eastern Finland (Finland), University of Granada (Spain) and University College Gjovik (Norway) and delivers the two-year Master programme entitled “Color in Informatics and Media Technology” (CIMET) under the prestigious Erasmus Mundus programme.

CIMET is a two-year Master course (120 ECTS) with an interdisciplinary approach on the field of color science and technology, it encompasses photonics, computer vision and imaging science, computer science and multimedia technology as a mix of relevant theoretical and practical knowledge.

CIMET is part of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus programme (http://ec.europa.eu/education/external-relation-programmes/doc72_en.htm), and has launched its campaign to recruit students and visiting scholars (PhD minimum) for the 2011-2013 programme.

The programme requests high mobility, but it is possible to mainly study in one host university and attend only one semester in another university. All courses are given in English throughout the consortium. To qualify for admission, applicants must have a Bachelor degree (180 ECTS) in computer science, physics, mathematics or similar field.

The CIMET consortium is also able to host academics specialized in the fields of optics, colour, image and media technology. Scholars (PhD minimum) will be expected to contribute to the teaching of one compulsory course or one optional specialization course, under the direction of a permanent teacher at the host institution. Those Non-EU visiting scholars, if selected, can benefit from an attractive fellowship.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarship and Fellowship:

Students applying for the MERIT Erasmus Mundus student scholarships must include up to 4 specialization options which can be:
a) Any of the 9 specialization tracks.
b) Any of the 3 AoK.
c) Indifferent.
In addition, students should also indicate which university they prefer, if any, for the second year of studies.

Notification of Scholarships: April-May 2011.
