Scholarship Graduate Univ. calgary Canada

Scholarships Graduate, in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, University of Calgary, Canada

Scholaraship Overview :
Up to 4 graduate student positions in theoretical and computational chemistry will become available in my group by May 2011, September 2011 or January 2012. The successful applicants will be involved with the development of new computational methods or applications of state-of-the-art computational methodology to problems of chemical interest. Application deadlines are 4 months prior to admission . The applicant should have a solid background in (Physical) Chemistry, and a strong interest in Theoretical/Computational Chemistry as well as an average GPA corresponding to 3.3/4.0 (80 %) or more in the North American system.

Students will receive financial assistance throughout the course of their studies (4-5 years) in terms of scholarships or teaching assistance ships. The student will normally spend from 12 months to 18 months finishing the course requirements (4 half courses + a general examination in the students field of specialization. The remaining part of the program is devoted to the students research work. The student will be allocated an interim supervisor and should chose his/her permanent supervisor within 8 months after arriving in Calgary.

The course requirements for students with the equivalent of a Masters degree might be reduced to two courses. We do not have entrance examinations. The students are admitted based on their letters of reference, academic records, and recommendations from a panel of faculty members in the applicants field of specialization. Foreign students with English as a second language must pass the TOEFL test with a score of 580. All foreign students will be covered by an inexpensive medical insurance. Students will be fully supported by teaching assistance ships and scholarships for a total of $24,000 CDN. The tuition fee is covered by research grants in my group .

Beasiswa | PhD Studentship for Theoretical Chemistry, Netherlands

Beasiswa | PhD Studentship for Theoretical Chemistry, Netherlands

Scholarship Application Deadline: 21 November 2010

Candidate must have programming experience

Study Subject: Chemistry
Employer: Radboud University, Nijmegen Medical Centre
Level: PhD

Scholarship Description: The aim of this project is to compute cross sections and rate coefficients for vibration-rotation inelastic collisions of molecules. You will use quantum scattering methods and develop more efficient algorithms. You will also compute intermolecular potentials using high-level ab initio methods. The research is funded by NWO (www.nwo.nl/astrochemistry) and is part of the Gas-Phase Astrochemistry Theme. Infrared radiation emitted by molecules such as CO, CO2, H2O, and HCN is observed by ground-based telescopes such as the Very Large Telescope of the European Southern Observatory or space-based telescopes such as the Spitzer space telescope and the Herschel Space Observatory. To extract information about planet and star formation, rates of collisions between these molecules and He, H, and H2 are required. The collisions are studied experimentally in our Institute for Molecules and Materials in Dave Parker’s group. In this project you will collaborate with experimental physicists and astrochemists.

Requirements
You should have:
- an MSc degree in Chemistry, Physics, or a related field;
- programming experience;
- a good command of written and spoken English.

The Institute of Theoretical Physics Honours Scholarship 2011

[Australia] - The Institute of Theoretical Physics Honours Scholarship 2011, Australia

Scholarships for those students who are interested in pursuing a career in theoretical physics and have demonstrated a high-level of academic achievement in their undergraduate tertiary studies

Scholarship Description: The Scholarship will include a $5,000 cash payment for one year to assist with costs associated with studying (textbooks, incidental expenses etc) for the normal expected duration of the honours degree for which the scholarship is offered. The University reserves the right to reduce the amount of assistance where applicants are in receipt of other Scholarships. Students will only be awarded one continuing Scholarship. A continuing Scholarship is defined as a Scholarship that has more than one payment. The cash payment of the Scholarship will be paid to the student’s nominated bank account in two instalments of $2,500 per year. First and second semester payments will occur post census dates (thus approx mid-end April and mid-end Sept).

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria to be considered for a Institute of Theoretical Physics Honour Scholarship:

  • Excellent academic performance in the relevant undergraduate degree
  • Receive approval from Curtin University to study Physics Honours Major

Scholarship Application Deadline: 15th NOVEMBER 2010
