Applications are invited for a fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Ancient Philosophy, to work on a project entitled Power Structuralism in Ancient Ontologies, which is hosted by the Faculty of Philosophy, and supported by the European Research Council. The postholder will be located in the Faculty of Philosophy, and will work under the guidance of the Director of the Project, Dr Anna Marmodoro. The Fellowship is for the period 1 October 2011 to 30 September 2013, and is not renewable.
The postholder will be expected to conduct research on all aspects of Pre-Socratic philosophy, and to contribute to the Project in other ways by, for example, helping to organise conferences; assisting in supervising the work of doctoral students; and collaborating to develop grant applications for the Project. In addition, the postholder may be asked to undertake some duties for the Faculty of Philosophy, including lecturing and examining.
The successful applicant will have an outstanding record of research in Pre-Socratic philosophy, with evidence of, or evidence of potential for producing distinguished research in philosophy. By the date of appointment, candidates should have received (or have submitted their thesis for) the degree of PhD (or equivalent).
