These IMA Postdoctoral Fellowships run one to two years, at the option of the holder, starting August 31, 2011. In the second year of the appointment there are a variety of options to enhance career development, including continued work on the fellow's established research program, participation in the 2012-2013 academic year program, teaching, and working on an industrial project. Postdoctoral fellows receive a salary of $55,000 annually, and a travel allowance. Documentation of completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree in mathematics or a related area by the start of the appointment is required.
If in addition to this IMA Postdoctoral Fellowship, you wish to be considered for an IMA Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowship, please apply for that Industrial Postdoctoral Program separately (providing a separate personal statement) through MathJobs.
The research statement you submit is an important part of your application and it is very possible that the research statement you use for other postdoctoral applications will need to be augmented for this application. Your statement should not only outline your interests and goals, but should also state why the IMA Postdoc Fellowship, and next year's annual program on numerical analysis, simulation and scientific computing, would be an effective place for you to pursue these interests and goals. (See http://www.ima.umn.edu/2011-2012/ for a description of next year's annual program.)
