IMA POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIPS (2 years in duration) beginning Fall 2011 provide an excellent opportunity for mathematical scientists near the beginning of their career who have a background in and/or an interest in the wide variety of fields related to the 2011-2012 annual program year. (The IMA program next year is "The Mathematics of Information", and will involve a great variety of mathematics, statistics, computer science, and engineering. Related topics include, but are certainly not limited to: probability,combinatorics, applied harmonic analysis, geometric functional analysis, information theory, machine learning, data mining, numerical linear algebra, numerical optimization, and signal processing.).

These IMA Postdoctoral Fellowships run one to two years, at the option of the holder, starting August 31, 2011. In the second year of the appointment there are a variety of options to enhance career development, including continued work on the fellow's established research program, participation in the 2012-2013 academic year program, teaching, and working on an industrial project. Postdoctoral fellows receive a salary of $55,000 annually, and a travel allowance. Documentation of completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree in mathematics or a related area by the start of the appointment is required.
