SFS partners with Sierra Leone national Joseph Lamin, Founder and Executive Director of Masanga Children’s Fund (MCF), a Sierra Leone non-profit founded in 1980 to provide support for destitute children and their families connected with Masanga Leprosy Hospital, a leading medical center through the 1980’s and early 1990’s until it was destroyed during the civil war. Mr. Lamin provides the operational and fiscal management of all SFS projects in Sierra Leone. Since 2005, SFS, has partnered with Joseph Lamin and his remarkable team in Sierra Leone to build 13 primary schools, refurbish a secondary school library and build numerous water wells.
In addition to building school structures, SFS is also deeply invested in teacher training - In June 2010, SFS co-sponsored with Friends of Sierra Leone, the second annual week long teacher training workshop in Bo for over 70 teachers. SFS provides on-going support to help the schools thrive by providing government required textbooks, schools supplies and scholarships to needy children when necessary.
